Micael Hocherman
director, director of photography and producer
Micael is a director, cinematographer and producer. He graduated from the School of Fine Arts at UFRJ and studied film at the International School of Film and TV in Cuba - EICTV. He has worked with big names in music such as Martinho da Vila, Djonga, Chico Buarque, Amaro Freitas, Seun Kuti, Dona Ivone Lara, Zé Paulo Becker and Moyseis Marques. He has worked on advertising and branded content for NGOs and brands such as WWF, Amnesty International, Adidas, Airbnb, Grindr, Sesc, Red Bull, Cantão, Shell, Azul and LivMundi. Among his most recent works are: the documentary series “Negro Muro” (2023) for the GNT channel, the documentary “Heat the Meat” and the series “Earthrise - Natural Wisdom: Indigenous communities and defending biodiversity'' both for the Al Jazeera channel (2020 and 2023); the documentary series “Modo Mãe” starring Ingrid Guimarães for Globoplay (2021), the feature documentary BR Trans, with Silvero Pereira, which premiered at the Rio Film Festival in 2021, the documentary series “Rock in Rio - A História” for Globoplay (2022), the series “Amigos, Sons e Palavras”, with Gilberto Gil, for Canal Brasil (2022) and the documentary series “Repórter do Poder”, about journalist Jorge Bastos Moreno, which premiered in the first half of 2023 on Globoplay. He is currently producing and co-directing his first feature-length documentary “Reconhecidos”, which was one of the eight projects selected for Doc Lab 2021 at DocSP and won awards from RioFilmes and the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy.
